The mission of the Roads Division is to provide a safe and efficient multi-modal transportation system, maintain and repair existing storm water facilities, and construct small storm water projects that is responsive to users and community goals. The City’s Road Division maintains the surface condition of City streets, sidewalks, bikeways, parking lots and bridges as well as maintaining and improving upon the City’s drainage system including maintenance of drainage pipe and small roadside channels. Listed below are some of the division’s highlights:
- Completes citizen generated work requests
- Evaluates problem areas in existing transportation system and implements safety, and operational improvements
- Maintains, installs, relocates, and removes traffic signs and pavement markings
- Maintains the surface condition of City streets, sidewalks, bike ways, and bridges to provide the safest and most convenient transportation system possible with available financial resources
- Maintains and improve the City’s enclosed storm drainage system to minimize damage to private property and prevent hazardous roadway conditions caused by major storms
- Works with private property owners in the resolution of public facility related drainage complaints
- Performs analysis and planning for infrastructure management
- Assists in the administration of the pavement management program
- Administers moderately sized maintenance contracts
- Controls vegetation along public property
